Three tie for lead at Memorial

Golfers, Geoff Ogilvy, Rickie Fowler and Justin Rose are top of the leader board after the first day of the Memorial Golf Tournament in Dublin, Ohio

All three finished on 7 under 65, two shots ahead of a large group which includes Phil Mickelson, who could  go to number one in the World Golf Rankings as long as Tiger Woods does not come in the top four.

Mickelson had a bogey free round of 67, after missing out on the cut last week at the Crowne Plaza Tournament.

Ogilvy made eight birdie putts to take the lead, but fell into the three way tie after missing his putt on the 17th.

Rose, was an early leader due to being one of the first golfers out. He bogeyed his first hole, and then birdies six of his last ten holes

Fowler had a brilliant first nine to take him into the lead. He bogeyed the third, followed by 3 birdies and then an eagle on the seventh.

Tiger’s performance in the first round was quite ordinary. He finished on par 72 to tie 49th. This is the first time that Tiger, the defending champion has failed to break par in the this Tournament
