UCLA gals in Second after 36

SORRENTO, Fla.—Oklahoma State’s women’s golf team posted a 289 total during its second day of action at the UCF Challenge on Monday to remain in third place at RedTail Golf Club.

The Cowgirls will enter tomorrow’s final round as one of just three teams under par at the par-72, 6,301-yard layout. OSU’s 1-under score of 575 is six shots behind UCLA’s second-place total of 569. The duo trails Arizona State, which will begin play on Tuesday with a 568 tally.

Freshman Caroline Hedwall continued to pace the Cowgirls individually and will take aim at her third consecutive top-five finish. Hedwall posted a 73 on Monday to dip from second place into a tie for eighth at 3-under 141.

The Lodderopinge, Sweden native will begin play tomorrow five shots behind Florida’s Jessica Yadloczky, who maintained her lead with a second-round 70 and stands at 136.

Senior Pernilla Lindberg also carded a 73 during her second round and moved down seven spots into a tie for 12th place at 142.

Senior Karin Kinnerud signed for the squad’s low round of the day with a 1-under 70 to move up 24 spots into a tie for 29th place at 146. The Norrköping, Sweden native birdied her second hole of the day and played bogey-free golf on the front nine. Kinnerud stood at 1-over with two holes remaining before closing with back-to-back birdies to finish in red figures.

Freshman Caroline Masson turned in an even-par 72 to move up 11 spots into the group tied for 29th as well, while senior Amanda Johnson posted a 76 and is tied for 59th place at 151.

The Cowgirls will get their final round underway at 10:09 (EST) and will be paired with Southern California and UCLA.
