Tiger back on top of the Forbes Rich List

Tiger Woods is not only back on top of golf's official world rankings, but his resurgent golden form has also shined green with the announcement that he is back on top of Forbes' list of best-paid athletes.

Prior to 2012, this would have been no big deal as the star spent 11 straight years at No.1 on the magazines list. However a lack of form and injury in 2011 cost him his top spot, as he dropped to third.

Nevertheless, in the past 12 months Tiger has been back to near his best, resulting in earnings of $78.1 million over the last year from prize money, endorsements, appearance fees and golf design work.

Of that gigantic sum, $13.1 million is from his salary/winnings on the course over the last year, double his numbers from the previous period.

Other golfers in the list include Phil Mickleson who is at No7 with $48.7M, World No2 Rory McIlroy is 21st with $29.6M, South African Ernie Els is 78th ($19.5 million) and Brandt Snedeker ($19 million) 81st.
