Zach Johnson wins the Crowne Plaza

American golfer Zach Johnson has won the Crowne Plaza Invitational in Texas.

He won with a course record of 21-under 259 beating Londoner Brian Davis by 3 shots.

Play in the final round was suspended twice due to weather threatening conditions, but Johnson did not let this deter him, sinking a 14 foot birdie putt at the seventeenth to give him a two stroke lead going into the eighteenth.

Davis knew at that moment the game was over "It was a weird feeling walking up 18 knowing you can't win. “He said

It is Johnson’s seventh PGA tour win and his first since winning last May in Antonio. The win earns him $1.116 million.

Davis looked like he may have won the tournament with just nine holes to play when he moved into a one shot lead, however he did not maintain that on the back nine and finished with a bogey at the 18th.

Davis, who just six weeks ago lost in a playoff when he called a two stroke penalty on himself, is still looking for his first PGA Tour victory
