Calcavecchia's last PGA Event

When Mark Calcavecchia plays at the Memorial next week it will be his last PGA tour event.


Calcavecchia, who turns 50 on June the  12th has an exemption to the Memorial at Muirfield village. The closest he ever came to winning this event was in 1995 when he tied for second behind Greg Norman.


In his career on the PGA tour Calcavecchia has teed up 736 times and won 13 titles on the PGA tour and eleven other professional events. He has earnt just under $24 million.


Ca was probably at his best in the late 1980 when he won the British Open, and he finished second in the 1988 masters tournament.


He spent over 100 weeks top 10 of the Official World Golf Rankings between 1988 to 1991


He was a member of the US Ryder cup team in 1987, 1989, 1991 and 2001


The closest he ever came to winning the Memorial was in 1995 when he tied for second behind Greg Norman.


Calcaveccia will now play on the Champions tour and has already signed up for 11 of the 12 events


"Someone asked me if I was excited to be going out there to the Champions Tour," he said. "I said I would be excited if the hole was bigger. But I think it's the same size out there, so I'm not that excited. I can miss 'em out there same as I can miss 'em out here."
