South Korea to host 2015 Presidents Cup

The PGA has announced that South Korea will host the 2015 Presidents Cup

The announcement was made on the eve of this year’s event at The Royal Melbourne Golf Club, although the exact venue is yet to be decided

"We have a number of options," said the PGA Commissioner.

"We will be announcing a decision sometime in the first half of 2012 which will give us a significant amount of time to lead up to and prepare for the Cup in the (autumn) of 2015."

South Korea has seen a huge rise in the success of its golfers over the past few years and this year’s International Team includes three South Koreans-KJ Choi, KT Kim and YE Yang.

"I feel very proud that I picked up golf as a living," said Yang. "I have no doubt that this will improve the golf culture and golf market in Korea."

The biennial event is held alternately between a United States venue and an international one. Previous international courses that have hosted the event were The Links at Fancourt, South Africa in 2003 and the Royal Montreal Golf Club in Canada in 2007.

The next Tournament in 2013 will be held at Muirfield Village in Dublin, Ohio.
