Pavin still proud of the US Team

Despite losing to Europe in yesterdays Ryder Cup US Captain Corey Pavin is still extremely proud of the US Team

The USA staged a dramatic fight back on the final day from three points behind to lose the tournament, and when rookie Rickie Fowler birdied the last four holes of his match withEdoardo Molinari to earn ½ a point, it looked like they may just have pulled off a win, but it all came down to last match between Graham McDowell and Hunter Mahan.

With the US needing to win the 17th hole, Mahan misjudged a chip onto the green, before conceding the match to McDowell

"I'm incredibly proud. I just had a talk with them. It was a difficult talk, but one from the heart," Pavin told a press conference after the Ryder Cup "I'm proud of what they did and how hard they fought all week. We win as a team, and lose as team.”

"The talk we just had was very emotional. Took me a while to get back out here to talk to you. It's a culmination of two years of work and we came close, but we didn't quite get there.”

"The bottom line is I'm very proud of the team and how hard they fought."

The rest of the US team was quick to rally round a distraught Hunter Mahan, each insisting it was a team performance and no one golfer can take the blame.
