Sweden's Jonas Blixt wins Frys.com

It's been a good season on the PGA Tour for the newbies, as Jonas Blixt became the third rookie to win this season with a 3-under 68 good for a 16-under 268 total.

Blixt earns himself a winner's cheque for a cool $900,000 and a tour exemption through the 2014 season.

The 28-year-old Swede who studied at Florida State won his first event as a professional a stroke ahead of Americans Jason Kokrak and Tim Petrovic.

"The weird part is I've been working on some stuff with my swing, and I wasn't feeling completely 100 percent about my swing," Blixt said. "I just told myself, 'Just give it a good hit every time and see what happens. Just focus. You can't do anything better than your best.' That's what I did on every shot."

Despite being ecstatic about the win, it's not all roses in the Blixt household as his first love continues to suffer -  ice hockey and the ongoing NHL lockout.

"I was more interested in hockey. I wanted to be a hockey player," he said. "I never really got big enough or good enough to play. Golf kind of suited me pretty well."

"It's the greatest sport ever," he added. "The lockout just kills me."
