January 21st -25th2009 the 50th annual Bob Hope Chrysler Classic golf tournament, featuring many top PGA golf Tour stars, hosted by golf’s legend Arnold Palmer returned to the Coachella Valley golf courses — Bermuda Dunes Country Club, the Arnold Palmer Course at PGA West, Silver Rock Resort and the Nicklaus Private Course at PGA West.
World ranked golfer #9 alumni of La Quinta High School product Anthony Kim joined the field along with other previous Bob Hope golf tournament winners: Corey Pavin, Mark Brooks, Fred Couples, and David Duval. Among other PGA golf stars entered were Chris DiMarco, Stephen Ames, Lee Janzen, and Mark Calcavecchia, to mention a few.
The 72-hole pro-am portion of the golf tournament began at 8:30 a.m., Wednesday at each of the four golf courses. The 128
golf teams consisted of one pro golfer and a three-player amateur team. Every pro golfer and every amateur teamed played a
different course each of the first four days of the golf tournament, as the golf pros played with a different amateur golf team each
day.
Pat Perez won the 50th Bob Hope Classic golf tournament by 3 strokes with an eagle on 18.
Next year the golf event will be scheduled for January 18-24, 2010
