Suitcases – Creating The Perfect Luggage
Suitcases Creating The Perfect Luggage
How many of us spoil a holiday by over-packing our suitcases? Here's some advice on where we're going wrong.
When visiting anywhere, a light bag can transform your vacation into a more pleasant experience. However, there is an art to travelling lightly and not many people find it easy to master this art. Below are, a list of pointers to ensure that your suitcase doesn't weigh down your vacation:
Preparation Once you have booked your vacation, in the weeks leading up to the trip, try to create a list of items that you think you might need to pack in your suitcase. It will make it so much easier for you to pack with a comprehensive list to follow and stick to.
Small Essential Bag This is an essential item for your suitcase. You can be certain that you'll want to buy some souvenirs whilst on vacation, so you'll be able to add this bag to your luggage on your return without having to fork out additional money for an extra bag abroad.
Size if you're flying somewhere, try to make your suitcase small enough to fit on the plane. This way you'll avoid having to wait hours for luggage at the airport or suffer from any loss of baggage.
Clothing - Thin, synthetic fabrics tend to take up less space and also dry quickly if you need to hand-wash them in a hotel room. Have a good think about what you really do need to take in your suitcase. Set aside all the clothes you think you need to pack, then live just on those clothes for the number of days you will be on vacation. Don't do any washing, but if you want to re-wear something enough, hand wash it. You will probably be surprised at how many items you wore during this period.
There are always essential items which must be packed in your suitcase when venturing on vacation, so make sure that you don't leave these behind. Even if you're trying to be stringent, you will still require the following:
- Travel documents - such as a passport or visa.
- Paper - listing phone numbers for all credit cards and numbers from traveller's checks in case they get lost.
- Copies - of all hotel confirmations.
- Detailed Maps - from the train station or airport to your hotel.
- Money - never enter a country without at least a little local currency.
- Prescription Drugs It is very difficult to get prescription drugs if you're travelling abroad.
- Wallet/Purse
- Train/Boat/Airline tickets
- Plug Adaptors if you're going abroad
