The Solheim cup is a biennial golf tournamnent which, like the Ryder Cup, is played alternatively in Europe and America . The Solheim Cup is considered the premier event in ladies' golf throughout the world and is played at a variety of prestigious golf clubs worldwide.
This highly esteemed golf tournament was founded in 1990 by Karsten Manufacturing Corporation (KMC) who are the makers of PING golf clubs and equipment. The Solheim Cup features twelve of the top European born players from the Ladies European Tour (LET) and twelve American born players from the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA).
Like the Ryder Cup, the Solheim Cup is played over a three day period and consists of twenty-eight matches. The matches are comprised of eight foursome matches, eight four-ball matches and twelve singles played on the final day of the tournament., giving women the ultimate chance to swing their golf clubs in style.
