Famous uncle

It couldn't have been easy being the niece of the world's number one golf player, especially when she decided to compete in the same arena as her uncle. Cheyenne Woods was born in 1991 and soon proved herself with her junior golf clubs, despite her famous relative. Her skill with her golf clubs earned her a place on the Xavier College Prep golf team and went on to win the Junior Golf of Arizona Yuma City Championship.

Xavier College

Xavier is a school that's won more than 20 Arizona State girls golf championships since 1980 and is the place to go if you have talent with junior golf clubs. Its graduates include the late Heather Farr, a national champion who played on the LPGA tour, and LPGA player Grace Park.

Junior golf clubs

Aged just 14, Cheyenne showed the other kids how to swing junior golf clubs when she won her spot at the US Girls' Junior. But because of her famous uncle, it is impossible for the girl swinging her junior golf clubs not to feel enormous pressure - she is continually compared and sized up to the world's greatest, Tiger Woods.

But many critics felt her ability with her junior golf clubs was strong enough to be judged on her own merits.

Famous family

Being from the Woods family, Cheyenne picked up her first set of junior golf clubs just aged 5, when her grandpa Earl watched her hit balls in their garage.

Cheyenne sees her uncle Tiger a few times a year and she said he sometimes checks out her swing. Journalists have commented how professional she is not only with her junior golf clubs but because she takes the endless questions about her uncle in her stride.

�When I see him he doesn't seem like a celebrity,� Cheyenne Woods has said. �He just acts normal. He makes you feel comfortable to be around him.�

Good perspective

Despite her striking resemblance to her uncle, unlike Tiger, Cheyenne still has a sense of youth about her. While her uncle is busy making golf history, she still enjoys her junior golf clubs. Cheyenne plays a mixture of junior tournaments but her goal, like her uncle, is to make a career out of her golf clubs and turn professional. Although Tiger won three US Juniors, she doesn't put too much pressure on how she swings her golf clubs though, and has even considered taking up tennis.
