Golf trolleys pull trolleys golfing in the West Country
The West Country makes a magnificent backdrop for your golfing holiday, so pack your bags and your pull trolley today and explore this jewel of England
Malborough, Wiltshire
Founded in 1888 and set in the beautiful rolling Marlborough Downs, the course presents a real challenge to the low handicapper - the Wiltshire Professional Championship has been held at Marlborough for the last 12 years - at the same time as providing a fair test for those with higher handicaps. Being set mainly on the chalk of the Marlborough Downs, it drains exceptionally well and normally provides good golf in even the most trying of winter conditions. In the summer, the enjoyment of pulling your golf trolleys on the 114 year old downland turf of the back 9 has to be experienced to be believed.
Bath , Somerset
Laid out around 'Hampton Down', the Bath Golf Club occupies a prominent position on one of Bath 's beautiful surrounding hills. The 18 hole, 6442 yard, par 71 course may not be the length that today's course designers seem to favour, but in the 1880's they knew how to create a challenge using the natural contours of a hilltop location steeped in history with stunning views that, on a clear day, stretch to the Welsh beacons. At the end of a long day pulling your golf trolley around the course, you can relax at the town's newly refurbished Roman Baths, take a stroll around the Georgian crescents, or sit by the river and watch the world go by.
Sidmouth, Devon
Situated in the natural beauty of the Sid Valley and with wonderful views of Lyme Bay , Sidmouth Golf Club offers the perfect challenge for the golfing novice as well as providing a test for the more accomplished golfer. Founded in 1889 and designed by J.H. Taylor, it makes the most of the natural contours of the wooded slopes of the Sid Valley , making it a delightful place to pull your golf trolleys. Each hole provides its own challenge with undulating fairways and subtle burrows adding to this demanding yet delightful test of golf. Although little over 5000 yards, visitors should not be mislead into thinking of Sidmouth as 'easy' and, certainly, the seven par threes are a test for most golfers.
Perranporth, Cornwall
Perranporth is Cornwall 's most outstandingly natural Championship links course. Designed by James Braid in 1927 the original layout has not been changed, a real tribute to good design. Perranporth is a seaside course and has an advantage over many other courses in that there are magnificent views of the North Cornwall coastline overlooking the Atlantic Ocean . Even if one is playing indifferent golf, the beautiful scenery and bracing sea air will encourage you to continue pulling your golf trolley to the close of play. One should pause for a few moments on the 5th & 14th tees, where the setting and views are as fine as anywhere in the world
