Golf trolleys – pull trolleys – golfing in North Wales

Golf trolleys pull trolleys golfing in North Wales

The beautiful North Wales coast is home to many good golf courses, so pack your bags, load up your pull trolleys and head to the countryside.

Breathtaking countryside

From Holyhead in the East to the Vale of Llangollen in the West, North Wales is littered with fine golf courses, many of which enjoy some of the most spectacular scenery in the whole of Britain . The region boasts more than 50 golf courses where you can use your pull trolleys to carry your clubs around breathtaking countryside. The great James Braid designed a number of courses in North Wales , the pick of which are probably Pwllheli and Wrexham. Thousands of people every year flock to the coastal resorts of Rhyl, Prestatyn and Llandudno and quality golfing tests are available at all of them. Llandudno, in fact, boasts three first courses on its own.

Llandudno

Since opening in 1894, Llandudno has garnered itself a highly respected reputation having hosted seemingly every top regional event imaginable. The course is situated on Llandudno's West Shore , overlooking Conway Bay , and provides a quite stunning links test. It is a natural links course in every aspect with the front line like similar to Troon, in that it runs alongside a railway line with the homeward stretch along the coast. A particular highlight of this golf course, aside from the views of the Great Orme, with its cable trolley cars pulling tourists up to the top of the mountain, are the tricky par threes where a par feels like a birdie.

Northop

Founded in 1993, Northop Country Park , located around three miles to the south of Flint , is one of the best venues for golf in the north of Wales . The course is the work of former Ryder Cup player and renowned golf coach John Jacobs. It is in among 300 acres of awe-inspiring parkland and features an abundance of tall trees creating a feeling that you are pulling your golf trolley in a world of your own. The course opened in 1994 and immediately hosted the Welsh PGA National Championships before going on to play host to a number of top amateur events and regional competitions. For those of you who are soccer fans too, you might catch a glimpse of England player Michael Owen, whose home is right next to the golf course at Northop, and who enjoys the occasional game himself.

Porthmadog

Porthmadog is course that will leave you begging more when you walk off its 18th green. The front nine is very spacious and allows you to open the shoulders and have a go with the driver, but the back nine is a completely different story. While the opening nine is parkland in nature, the back inward nine is distinctly links and poses its fair share of mesmerizing holes, made somewhat tougher when the wind picks up. With high dunes on one side and the sea on the other you could find your pull golf trolleys getting heavier as you go round the course, as they fill up with Black Rock Sands!
