Golf Clubs – Golf Irons – Practising In The Mirror

Golf Clubs Golf Irons Practising In The Mirror

Find out how just ten minutes in front of a mirror can improve your golf techniques.

The mirror is a fantastic tool for working on your game of golf. No matter what the weather is like, you can work on your game. So, in those cold, dark winter months, when you want to stay warm and dry, pick up your golf irons and head towards the nearest mirror! You can even sneak your golf clubs into work if you have a suitable mirror in the office where you can steal ten minutes during the day. Playing golf is a sure fire way to relax and take some time our of a particularly stressful day at the office, without having to step outside your door!

If you plan to practice at home and sadly don't have the luxury or the privacy of being able to swing your golf clubs at work, then set up a mirror in the highest ceiling room in your home. It's now time to get out your 6-iron golf club and start practicing!

Practising opposite a mirror will help you notice your mistakes a lot quicker than you would on the golf course. The following areas are good starting points to look at:

•  Stance Whilst holding your 6-iron on the ground, your feet should be slightly wider than your shoulder width and the left foot (for right-handed players) turned out about 20 degrees. Your right foot might also be turned out depending on your flexibility. The less flexible you are, the more open your right foot should be.

•  Balance - Your balance should be 50-percent on each foot.

•  Ball Position - Place your golf club in the middle of your stance with the ball slightly forward.

Once you have the above cracked, its time to start swing your golf irons. Stand facing the mirror and take five swings, starting with about 30% of your normal effort and working upward. Before each swing, make sure that you are following the guidelines above correctly and that your golf iron is in the correct position. Then switch to a down-the-line view (swinging toward the mirror). Take five more swings at about 30-percent effort. Go through your routine and check your posture before each swing.

It's now time to increase your swing speed and perform several more swings of your golf clubs. Make sure you maintain the same tension and grip on your golf iron from start to finish and be aware of your balance.

If you take just ten minutes out of your day to perform this simple golf routine, you'll be totally prepared to pull out your irons and play your next game of golf when the time arises.
