Golf clubs – Courses Guidelines
Golf clubs Courses Guidelines
If you are new to golf courses and unsure of the do's and don'ts of swinging your golf clubs, here are a few guidelines.
How long is a game of golf?
It's all very well picking up your golf clubs and teeing off, but how long are you expected to play on the course? Well, first off you need to consider how busy the courses are if you're playing alone on an empty course, you should have put your golf clubs down after two and a half hours. But if you've joined one of the more popular golf clubs, and you're playing in a foursome, you could end up spending 5 or 6 hours on the course. On average, four hours is the estimated time for 18 holes.
Is golf expensive?
Like most sports, playing a round of golf can be as expensive as you make it. If you have money to spend, than you can play expensive courses and join exclusive golf clubs. If you shop around you will find a golf course that suits your budget.
You can also attend driving ranges which are often the cheapest way to work on swinging your golf clubs and a great place for beginners who don't feel ready to hit the golf courses yet.
Where can I take my golf cart?
If you need to use a golf cart rather than walk, you should be aware of the rules. There are different rules for different courses, but a general rule of thumb if you don't know otherwise is to stick to the designated cart paths.
Is there a dress code?
Once more there are different rules for different courses. Most municipal courses do not have a dress code, but if you are a member of one of the more exclusive golf clubs than it is more likely there will be a dress code. Some will have a no-denim rule, so it is always worth inquiring ahead for a course you haven't played before.
What is golf etiquette?
On golf courses there are rules to follow some golf clubs will have these rules written down but basically golf etiquette is simply good manners. Golf etiquette takes into consideration the other players on the course and asks golfers to use their common sense when it comes to safety, to keep the game enjoyable not to interfere with others' games - and to keep the game moving so there are no unduly hold ups for players.
