Golf runs in the Kidd family - David McLay Kidd is fast becoming one of the hottest young designers of golf courses, but his father hasn't hung up his golf clubs yet - Jimmy Kidd was the Director of Agronomy at the world famous Gleneagles Hotel in Scotland . David's father started out in life as a greens superintendent before climbing his way to the top and becoming one of the most respected turf grass managers in the world.

Perhaps it was inevitable that his only son, who grew up around golf clubs and on golf courses, dedicated his career to the sport too. David studied at the biggest Land Sciences College in Britain � Writtle College , where he later worked as a visiting lecturer on the subject of the architecture of golf courses.

David's career in the sport was kick started in the late eighties when he worked as a construction manager for Southern Golf before joining a golf architectural company as a designer.

He then went on a rapid learning curve working as designer of golf courses for Gleneagles Golf Developments, who had an ambition to build golf clubs around the world. A poor economy put that on hold, but David designed golf courses for golf clubs spanning three continents, forging him into a flexible and adept designer.

With this experience under his belt he went on to launch his own company � DMK Golf Design Limited. His great team of agronomists, technicians and designers of golf courses meant they could deliver for any of the golf clubs in the world, regardless of climate.
