The end of Tiger Woods PGA Tour Golf?

Sluggish sales of the Tiger Woods computer game franchise have caused EA Sports and World No1 Tiger Woods to end their partnership that was launched back in 1999.

A mainstay on the golf computer game market, Tiger Woods PGA Tour '14 will be the last in the series as dwindling sales forced the decision by the electronic sports giants.

According to sales figures, Tiger Woods '14 sold just 160,000 copies sold for the PlayStation 3, down from 390,000 of last year's game and 810,000 of the 2012 edition. Similarly on Microsoft's XBox 360 console, sales dropped from 430,000 to 160,000 this year.

Daryl Holt the Vice Preisdent and General Manager of Golf at EA Sports issued a statement announcing the parting of ways.

"EA SPORTS and Tiger Woods have also made a mutual decision to end our partnership, which includes Tiger's named PGA TOUR golf game. We’ve always been big fans of Tiger and we wish him continued success in all his future endeavors.

Moving forward, we will continue to work with the PGA TOUR exclusively to create groundbreaking golfing titles and our partnership remains strong."

Earlier in the year news had surfaced that there would be no Tiger Woods PGA Tour '15 but this had originally be attributed to across-the-board layoffs, rather than a complete end of the popular series of games.
