Davis Love still haunted by Ryder Cup

Europe's miraculous comeback against USA in the Ryder Cup, that was heralded as the "Miracle in Medinah" is still giving the defeated captain, Davis Love III, sleepless nights nearly three weeks since.

“I’m still not sleeping well. I still think about things,” Love said. “We didn’t win. So I accept that.”

Leading 10-6 coming into the final day, the home side were expecting to stroll to the title. However, resilient play from the visitors broke American hearts as the Europeans retained their Ryder Cup 14.5 - 13.5.

Love has faced criticism from press on his handling of his star-stocked side, and he confessed that while a lot of the media complaints are unwarranted there are strategies he would have re-done if given a second bite at the apple.

“And the order of play and the pairings and all that, you can go over and over and over. So you keep going back and forth on all the arguments," he said.

“We really may have dropped the ball on pin placements on the last few holes. We wanted pins on the left and in the middle of the green because a lot of our guys were drawing it in there.

If I could do something over again, it would be more getting guys thinking about how to play singles and maybe the pins needed to be easier or harder.”
