Tiger Woods the favorite to win Masters

He may not have won a major championship since 2008, nor a U.S. Masters title since 2005, but Tiger Woods' resurgent form shown at the Farmers Insurance Open in Torrey Pines has been enough to convince bookmakers he's back.

After his four-shot victory in San Diego, Woods has been installed as favorite to win the Tour's first major of the year.

A 9-2 pick to win yet another green jacket, if he did so it would be his fifth, Woods has seen a slow but steady return to form with three wins on the PGA Tour last year, a No. 2 position int he Official World Golf Ranking, and a second place finish in the 2012 Money List.

''I'm excited about this year. I'm excited about what I'm doing with Sean (Foley) and some of the things that I've built,'' Woods said, in the aftermath of his win in California. ''This is a nice way to start the year.''

Rory McIlroy, the current No. 1, is second favorite at 6-1 while Phil Mickelson who already holds a hat-trick of wins at Augusta is rated at 15-1.

Before people to rush to their local bookmaker, Woods was also the favorite at the 2012 Masters but failed dismally, ending up 15 shots behind eventual winner Bubba Watson.
