The world's oldest golf magazine, Golf Monthly have announced their Best Golfing Moments of 2011 with US Open champion Rory McIlroy and former World No1 Tiger Woods featuring prominently.
Golf Monthly were heartbroken by McIlroy's meltdown at the Masters but equally thrilled by his record-breaking demolition of the field at Congressional in the US Open.
While watching the rise of a new star, the staff at the magazine also paid homage to the resurgence of a fallen one and Woods' long awaited triumph at the Chevron World Challenge.
"It may have been a small field that lacked many of the world's best
players, but after enduring two years without a win and battling
problems off the course as well as on it, Woods at last landed another
'W'. Not one of his finest but finishing with two birdies when the
pressure was on was gripping to watch. Maybe, just maybe, he'll add to
his Major wins in 2012."
The British-based monthly also predictably focused on achievements on their side of the Atlantic, with plaudits for Luke Donald's clinching of the money lists on both European and PGA Tours, nods to team victories for Europe and British & Ireland in the Solheim and Walker Cup respectively.
