Triplett's maiden Champions at First Tee Open

Olin Browne, Ron Streck, Keith Fergus, Tom Lehman and Gary Hallberg need to shuffle along and make room for another member of their elite club of winners on all three US tours.

Kirk Triplett won the First Tee Open on Sunday at Pebble Beach for his first Champions Tour title.

Along with his three PGA Tour wins and Nationwide tour win last August, this makes him the sixth player to have won on the PGA, Champions and former Nationwide tours.

"To win anywhere is special," said Triplett. "But to win at Pebble Beach is extra special. To do it in my first Champions Tour try is great."

"I really hadn't been playing that well," added the 50-year-old, who has four top-10 finishes on the Champions Tour.

"But I'm doing a lot better lately and feeling more comfortable out there."

Despite entering the final round four strokes behind the leaders, Triplett made an early eagle that set him on his way to a 6-under 66, that took him the title two strokes ahead of Mark McNulty.
