Kuchar wins the Barclays

The opening event of the FedEx Cup Series, the Barclays has been won by Matt Kuchar

"There's nothing like the feeling of winning a PGA TOUR golf tournament. You feel like you are the best player in the world for this week. It's just an amazing feeling to think there's 125 of the best players in the world started this week and I came out first" said Kuchar

Kuchar beat Scotsman Martin Laird in a playoff. Both finished in the Clubhouse on 12 under par. They returned to the par 4, 18th hole for the first of their playoff holes.

Both missed the fairway from their tee shots, but their approaches to the green saw Kuchars ball finishing just two feet from the hole, which he was able to tap in for a birdie. Laird also reached the green, but he two putted for par, and lost out on the $1.35 million prize money.

Kuchars wins means he is now top of the FedEx Cup standings as well as moving him from 23rd to 10th in the World Rankings.

It assures him of a place in the playoffs finale-The Tour Championship presented by Coca-Cola and a more than likely top five finish in the FedEx Cup Standings
