USA Golfers suffer injuries

Three possible members of the USA Ryder Cup team are not playing golf due to injuries, but Captain Coery Pavin is not too worried.

"I don't know if I keep close tabs on (the injuries)," Pavin said. "I'm aware of them, but it is early and there is a lot of time between now and then."

"My concern more for guys that maybe aren't 100 percent is just obviously that they get healthy, but it's nice to have a body of work going into the Ryder Cup and not just the week before or a couple of weeks before.”

Anthony Kim who is currently second in the Ryder Cup points has had surgery on his left thumb earlier this month and is expected to be out of the game for ten to twelve weeks.

Steve Stricker has withdrawn from a few tournaments because of a shoulder injury, but is expected to play in next week’s Crowne Plaza Invitational. Stricker is currently 6th in the Ryder Cup points.

Tiger, 10th in the Ryder Cup points had to pull out of the Players Tournament in the final round last Sunday, because of a neck injury.

The top eight players in the Ryder Cup Points on August 15th will automatically earn a place on the team, whilst Pavin will then select another 4 golfers on September 7th.
