Tiger Begins a New Chapter in his Life

Tiger Woods begins a new chapter in his life today. He will play golf for the first time as a single man, since his recent divorce.

He will be playing in the first of the FedEx Cup playoff series at Ridgewood Country Club, New Jersey.

Despite still being ranked as the world number one golfer, Tiger is currently only 112th in the FedEx points list, which means unusually for him he will be in the first group teeing off, with little known golfers Cameron Beckman and Troy Matteson at the Barclays.

The pressure is on for Tiger to play well in order for him to qualify for the second leg of the series; The Deutsche Bank Championship in Boston next week. Only the top 100 on the FedEx points List go through. Tiger will need to finish between 50th and 57th to qualify.

There will also be Ryder Cup pressure on Tiger. As he has failed to gain an automatic place on the team, Captain Corey Pavin will also be watching his performance closely as he decides his three wild card picks

World number two, Phil Mickelson will tee off in one of the later times with Englishman Justin Rose and fellow American Jeff Overton. He once will again be bidding to remove Tiger from his number one position.
