US Ryder Cup Team arrive in Wales

The American Ryder Cup team arrived in Wales yesterday to be greeted by European Captain Colin Montgomerie.

Carrying the Ryder Cup, US Captain Corey Pavin posed for photos at the bottom of the aeroplane steps, before being joined by the rest of the team.

"We had had a nice ride over - I think we are all a little tired having had an overnight flight - and we are looking forward to a great competition. There has been a lot of preparation and a lot of work put into it. We are very prepared and ready to go - we are all very excited for a great week." He said

Both Captains agree that the matches will be very closely contented and will most likely come down a Sunday putt.  They will announce their pairings for the Friday morning fourballs during the opening ceremony at Celtic Manor on Thursday.

The US team has five rookies, Rickie Folwer, Dustin Johnson, Matt Kuchar, Jeff Overton and Bubba Watson, but will be helped along by the experience of some of the US best golfers, Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Jim Furyk and Stewart Clink.

They will start their practice sessions today on the Twenty Ten course.
