Adam Scott wins 2013 U.S. Masters

Australian Adam Scott won his first major and become the first Australian owner of the Green Jacket after he beat Argentina's Angel Cabrera in a sudden-death play-off at The Masters on Sunday.

After both he and Cabrera finished regulation play on nine under, Scott kept his nerve to hole a 15ft putt on the second extra hole to become his nation's first Masters winner.

"It fell my way today, there was some luck there but it's incredible to be in this position. I'm honoured," said Scott.

"This is the one thing in golf we hadn't been able to achieve," he added. "It's amazing that it's my destiny to be the first Australian to win."

Scott went on to dedicate his victory to fellow Australian Greg Norman, saying the two-time major winner, and a three-time Masters runner-up had "inspired a nation."

"There was one guy who inspired a nation of golfers and that's Greg Norman," said the 32-year-old.

"He's been incredible to me and part of this definitely belongs to him.

"A phone conversation's not going to do it, we're very close. I would love to share a beer with him and talk through it all."
