Tiger to tackle Turkey at megabucks event

After picking up the $1.17 million winner's cheque at the AT&T National, Tiger Woods is about to cash-in again, with the news that he will take part in the $5.3 million Turkish Airways World Golf Finals in October.

Along with Woods, the star-studded eight man field is set to include former U.S. Open winner Rory McIlroy, World Number One Luke Donald, Lee Westwood, Justin Rose, Charl Schwartzel, Hunter Mahan and 2012 U.S. Open champion Webb Simpson.

The winner is set to earn himself a cool $1.5 million, with $1 million awarded to the runner up. The event will be played from a Tuesday to Friday to avoid clashing with existing tournaments hosted by the PGA and European Tours respectively.

Newspaper reports have implied that Woods has an existing sponsorship with title sponsors Turkish Airways and will commit to a further three years.

"We've been in discussions for a couple of months," Mark Steinberg, Woods's agent said. "It's not finalized but we're trying to work toward that end.

"At this point, Tiger's schedule is pretty fluid. We're looking at this year and seeing if the event is absolutely going to happen.

"Beyond this year, we don't know what the dates are for the Turkey event. Tiger had an enjoyable time at the Frys last year (where he tied for 30th). But I'm just looking at this year for right now."
