Tiger Woods to play at Quail Hollow

Woods announced Wednesday his rollercoaster season will get back on track in May 3-6 at Quail Hollow, the place of his win in 2007.

As expected, Woods will also take part in the The Players Championship the following week. The event at which one year ago, he infamously injured his left Achilles tendon and withdrew after nine holes at TPC Sawgrass. Woods went on to miss the next three months and start the rumours of his retirement during a low-point in his career last year.

But first, he intends on taking a three-week break.

''I'm going to take some time off and not look at the clubs for a while, and then get back after it,'' Woods said on his website.

In his past three tournaments, Woods has lacked consistency with each result bringing out the knee-jerkers in the media: dark talk of retirement for each defeat and each victory acclaim and promises of him back to his best.

He pulled out of the final round at Doral with a recurrence of his Achilles tendon pain, won at Bay Hill for his first PGA Tour title in 30 months and then scored his worst ever major placing, tied for 40th at the Masters

''I know what I need to work on,'' Woods said. ''It's just a matter of getting out there and doing it. Just putting in the reps and the time. I just wasn't able to do it at the Masters.''
