Slocum wins McGladrey Classic

Heath Slocum has won the PGA Tour’s inaugural McGladrey Classic at St. Simons Island.

His final round 2 under 68, meant that he beat Bill Hass by one shot, and moves him to 29th in the PGA Tour money list, with just one event left in the season. The top 30 on the list earn invitations to the Masters.

It is Slocum’s fourth win on the PGA Tour, and although the field was not nearly as strong as when he beat Tiger Woods, Ernie Els, Padraig Harrington and Steve Stricker at the Barclays, he said the wins felt just as good as any other

"Every win, regardless of the field ... trust me, I went out there today wanting to win just as badly as I did at The Barclays"

"Any tournament you enter, you want to win. And when you do, there's just no other feeling like it."

Slocum was in a three way tie for the lead in the last hour of the tournament, but when Robert Allenby took a double bogey on the 18th and David Toms three putted on the 16th hole, he suddenly had a two shot lead allowing him to finish at 14 under 266
