Lorena Ochoa to announce her retirement

Lorena Ochoa has announced her retirement form golf.

A statement on the 28 years old website read: "Lorena Ochoa has confirmed her retirement from the LPGA, as some media reported today.

“The reasons and more details on the matter will be given by Lorena personally in a press conference on Friday in Mexico City. Lorena will share this news of a new stage in her life with her sponsors, family members and friends."

It is thought she is retiring to concentrate on her personal life and family. She married AeroMexico CEO Andres Conesa in December and has always said that all the travelling playing golf and family do not mix. Concesa has 3 children from a previous marriage.

It was always widely assumed though that she would continue to play golf until 2012, when she have played for 10 seasons for the LPGA and therefore qualify for their “Hall Of Fame”

The Mexican number one has won 27 LPGA titles over the past three years including the British Open and Kraft Nabisco Championship.

It is not clear whether the Kraft Nabisco  Championship which Ochoa played in last month was her last golf tournament or whether she will play in next week’s Tres Marias Championship in Morelia, where she is due to play.
