Schwartzel excited to be back after 6 weeks out

2011 Masters Champion Charl Schwartzel has been away from the game for the last six weeks, but now the rest of the golf world should take notice, he's back and raring to go.

"It's been one of the longest breaks I've ever taken - six weeks. I did some practice and didn't miss that part of it. But I did miss the competitiveness of it. I've watched the guys playing and I miss being in contention, so I'm looking forward to getting back and competing again."

The South African had a phenomenal finale to 2012 with consecutive victories in emphatic fashion.

First was the Thailand Golf Championship where he creamed the field by 11 strokes, and then the 28-year-old went even better: a devastating 12-stroke victory at the Alfred Dunhill Championship just a week later.

Such feats took their toll however, and Schwartzel suffered various injuries throughout last year and complained of fatigue in the tail end of the season.

"My body feels a little fresher after the break. I was quite fatigued at the end of last year. If I can just play consistent golf - whatever the result may be - I just want to start off in a nice consistent way. I want to start off on a good base and build from there."

And even though his 2013 season is just beginning whilst others already have several tournaments under their belt, Schwartzel is unconcerned.

"Now it's my time to start," he said. "If I can continue from where I left off, that will be great."
