Watson aiming for second major at US Open

One major already in the bag, after claiming the Masters in April, and now Bubba Watson is back for a second shot with the U.S. Open taking place this week at San Francisco's The Olympic Club.

"Who doesn't want to win the next tournament they play or the next major? Who doesn't want to win the grand slam?" said Watson. "It's a learning process and hopefully I can get the rust off my game pretty quick when I start this week."

The game he plays is his own brand of "Bubba Golf". Spectacular, unorthodox, and big swinging. It doesn't always work but when it does, such as his miraculous approach shot from the rough at Augusta in the sudden death playoff with Louis Oosthuizen, it can be major-winning.

"I just play golf because I love it. I love the surprise of the different shots," he said.

"I hit in the trees a lot, so I try to make it through those gaps. I'm just having fun with the game of golf and if people love it, that's great."

Having taken several weeks break from golf following his big Masters win, Watson's form has been unsurprisingly rusty since and acknowledges that all the media hype and demands on his time have affected him.

"There is a lot of stuff still going on in my life," said Watson. "Dealing with a major championship is a totally different level.

"You dream of winning a major championship, but then actually pulling it off, you don't know how to deal with it."

If he can pull of another extraordinary performance this week, he might need to clear his diary again.
