German Martin Kaymer has pulled out of this week’s Chevron World Challenge
Kaymer who won the lucrative Race to Dubai this weekend, after coming joint 13th in The Dubai World Championship has not given a reason for his absence and will be replaced byNick Watney at the Sherwood Country Club just outside Los Angeles.
The Chevron World Challenge hosted by Tiger Woods, is co-sponsored by the PGA and is a unique tournament made up of just 18 golfers who are all in the top 50 in the Official World Golf Rankings. It is played over four rounds and although it is not an official money tournament, the event does offer Official Golf Ranking points. The winner will be awarded $1.2 million.
Jim Furyk will be trying to defending his title after he closed with 5 under 67 last year to beat Graeme McDowell by one stroke
With the exception of Phil Mickelson, all of the US Ryder Cup will be playing.
The event starts on Wednesday with a Pro-Am, and the professional rounds beginning on Thursday.
